ROB'S RUN, INC

Rob's Run, Inc. was founded in 1994 by the family and friends of Rob Pedevilla in order to honor his memory and as a means of assisting those individuals and their families suffering from a catastrophic and/or life-threatening illness or accident.

Rob's dream

In 1992, Rob Pedevilla, a life long resident of Gonzales, husband and father of two, developed an acute form of leukemia. Friends and family rallied around him in the fight to prolong his life. He fought the disease for over a year, utilizing all medical technology available. Rob passed away in December of 1993 from complications resulting from the leukemia. Before his death, with the assistance and support of his family and friends, Rob was able to realize one of his dreams. This was to own a Harley Davidson Motorcycle, and to participate in a "run" with other Harley riders. The First Rob's Run was held in 1993 as a surprise for Rob with approximately 30 riders from throughout Monterey County arriving at his home to take him for a "ride". Robbie expressed many times during the course of his illness how fortunate he was to have had the support of so many friends and family. He had wished that when he was "well" that he too could help other families in financial crisis due to a life-threatening illness.

Rob's spirit and dream has been kept alive through the annual Rob's Run and Family Fun Day, which raises funds for relief of financial stress suffered by victims of life-threatening illness or accident. As a result of the first fundraiser held in October of 1994, over $25,000.00 was raised to help alleviate the financial burdens which may be the last straw for a family. Since that time, over $1,000,000.00 has been raised and donated. Throughout the years of fundraising, Rob's Run, Inc. has donated funds to cover the costs of insurance, transportation, utilities, medical bills, housing, and other miscellaneous bills. We have covered costs for medical visits to Stanford Hospital and San Francisco Hospital. So many families have simply stretched their budgets too thin and as a consequence of medical expenses or job loss resulting from illnesses, these expenses cannot be met. Every year we help as many families battle life-threatening illnesses or accidents  as we can, and with your continued support we can keep Rob's dream alive!
